Located in the backyard of Los Angeles - approximately 12 miles east of downtown LA - is the American Military History Museum, also known as Tankland. Featuring an eclectic mix of military vehicles and objects that have seen the days of WWI, Operation Desert Storm, the Cold War, and more, Tankland is a one-stop-shop for any military history enthusiast.
With the ultimate aim to educate future generations, the American Military Museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm. Of course, there is no shortage of history at Tankland. To date, the property houses over 170 military vehicles. In operation since 1962, Tankland continues to dole out knowledge by displaying exhibits used by the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force. These include an M725 Ambulance, a Vietnam River Boat, a rare M43 Self-Propelled Gun, torpedoes, and lots more.
